Dyck Family December 2008

Dear  Praying friends,

Merry Christmas to all.  Another year is almost over. God has truly blessed us this year, and we trust your year has been blessed as well.

We made 7 trips into Mexico with groups this past summer.  Each trip holds special memories.  Here are some of our highlights:

Supporting Pastor Vern Carmack and his wife and niece spent a week with us.  We were able to take them to the Rivers of Mercy Children’s Home just across the river from us in Anapra, Mexico.

Some friends of TEC from nearby Ruidoso, New Mexico, came several times this summer just to be a blessing in the construction of church and Bible Institute buildings, as well as working on a Drug Rehab center here in Juarez.  They are proof of what willing hands and a willing heart can accomplish in a short amount of time.

Our next highlight was that our home church, from Harvey, North Dakota, came with us to Bermejillo, Durango, where TEC has been concentrating our efforts these past two years. We were able to help with the building as well as hold open air evangelistic meetings. It was especially exciting for me, because Penny and the children were able to come as well.  It was a special time with my mom and two brothers and the nine others from various churches in North Dakota.  That week was also the second anniversary for Bethel Baptist Church there in Bermejillo.  We were hoping for 200 people to attend, but lost count somewhere around 297 or so.  The church was packed tight, shoulder to shoulder.  It made a real ruckus in town!  Praise the Lord!

Of course, seeing souls saved is always our best highlight!  Many people have made professions of faith, and the church is growing, both in numbers and spiritual maturity.

A young man by the name of Raul heard about all the commotion the new little Baptist Church in town was causing.  He had to come and see what was going on.  (Note: he was the assistant to the Catholic priest.)  To make a long story short, he accepted Christ as his Saviour, also.  At first, he was attending faithfully and very interested attending Bible Institute classes.  For some reason, he has chosen to go back to the Catholic Church.  Please pray for him.

Another young man named Chilo, a taxi driver who speaks English well, has joined the church and is much help and encouragement to Pastor Luna. He was already saved, and very excited to find a church to attend.  Pray for Chilo as he seeks the Lord’s direction in his life.

We had the privilege of being part of the missions conference at Valley Baptist Church here in El Paso.  The fellowship was wonderful, and a very special “Thank you” to Pastor Joe Serrano and the church family for taking us on for support.

One very special highlight for both Penny and me was the Bearing Precious Seed Conference in November.  Men of God, giants of the faith, whom we have known since we were teenagers were here, and our teenage children had the opportunity to here these men preach.  This conference was in memory of Bro. Carlos Demarest, founder of BPS, El Paso, who graduated to Heaven ten years ago.  Bro. Demarest had a great impact on our lives, as well as many others.  We pray that our children will follow the Godly heritage that has been laid before them.

Please continue to pray for us as we endeavor to do God’s will here in El Paso and in Mexico, and please prayerfully consider coming with us next year on a missions trip into Mexico.  It is time and money you will never regret investing!

Thank you for all your faithful prayers and support.  You are a valuable part of this ministry, and we pray God will richly bless you for it.

 Your missionaries to Mexico,
