We are excited to be able to report a little of the blessings that God has wrought in the ministry in Mexico. We are as busy as ever and the weeks fly by. We count it a great blessing to be able to represent you in this part of the world. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support!
PRAISE!! Roca Fiel Baptist Church: Carlos Chavira, Juarez, Chih. Pastor Josue Robles The Lord has blessed here in several ways. One Sunday near the end of January a lost sheep returned to the fold. Brother Jorge Berumen was one of our best students in the Bible Institute in 2005. With only 4 or 5 weeks left until graduation he dropped out of school and went out into the world. Through a long series of events the Lord brought him back. He and his family have been faithful to all the services and activities of the church and have brought an average of 25 people from their neighborhood to each service. One Sunday they made 3 trips in their cars to bring nearly 50 people! After a time of proving we hope to restore him to full service – please pray for him and his wife Elia.
¡CHURCH SPLIT! Praise the Lord, attendance here has been 110 - 125 for the last 6 weeks! We are at capacity (the teen class is meeting in the street in front of the church) so we are praying about splitting the church (on purpose) and moving 25- 30% of the faithful members to start another church in a nearby neighborhood. Please pray that the Lord’s will be done in regards to this decision.
Bearing Precious Seed brought a group from Colorado to help us March 10-12 and we were able to hold evangelistic meetings each evening. There were several hundred that attended the events and we were able to see many saved and several great prospective families identified for follow-up.
Our Bible Institute (Level 1) still has 14 enrolled and studying. The students really seem to be growing and enjoying the classes and are beginning to put the personal evangelism class in practice. Please pray for those who are studying that they would finish each level, graduate and go on to serve the Lord in a greater capacity!
PRAISE!! Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Gracia: Bermejillo Durango Pastor Ángel Luna. On January 16th my family and a group of 4 men went to help finish the wiring, plumbing and a few more details on the church building. The lot next to the church is currently being prepared to start construction on the parsonage and dormitories (for a planned Institute). Some of our summer groups will participate in this construction.
Brother Angel reports that they have had good attendance (they need more pews made or folding chairs). Brother Angel’s oldest daughter Ivonne (Graduated in 2005) has moved to Bermejillo from Juarez and has been a great addition to the ministry. She recently started teaching a course on how to teach Sunday school, and there are 6 enrolled. Pray for them as they continue to grow.
MISSION TRIPS 2008 We have the week of June 13-20 still open for this summer. Why not come on a trip and help us reach more people? You would make a difference in someone’s life!
PRAYER REQUEST Pray the Lord would raise up a few men to pastor a new work we are praying about starting in a town called Ascención as well as the church that would from due to the split mentioned above. Pray for our son Zach as he will be deployed to Iraq in April.
